The “Story from the Field” is a compelling narrative series featuring 10 emerging change-makers from YLWA Cohort 2, who spent six eye-opening months working with seven private water operators in Cambodia. This story captures their journey, full of ups and downs, and reveals how they tackled challenges and gained invaluable lessons along the way. Get ready to be inspired by their experiences and the difference they made in the field.
There are many inspiration and motivation stories, but the main two stories that motivated and inspired me the most to keep moving forward, I’ll explain in more detail below:
A wise man’s jokes: He faced a group of people who were complaining a joke and everyone cracked up laughing. Then, the repeated the joke. A few people smiled. Finally, he still repeated the joke a third time, but no one reacted. After that, he smiled and said, “You won’t laugh at the same joke more than once, so that why you always complain about the same problem over again and again”.
The moral: In real life, don’t waste time complaining or expecting other people react your complaints or any supports. Instead, take action to make a thing change as much as possible. You must to know that, the more you complain without act, the none value you are.
It’s never too late: He offered the recipe for free, asking for only a small chunk of the money that was earned. Unexpected, most of the 1,009 restaurants declined his offer, said NO. But, even after all of the rejections, he persisted. He believed in himself and his recipe. Day by day, after he visited restaurant 1,010, he got YES in one day, finally.
The moral: In real life, the power of persistence, if we have confidence or clear of work in ourselves and show them the result should they deserved, other people also believe it and give us a value, even if we are young professional or new engineering. All is well, nothing is impossible. Remember that, obstacle or failure make us stronger than ever. Believe in yourself, keep fighting.
