The “Story from the Field” is a compelling narrative series featuring 10 emerging change-makers from YLWA Cohort 2, who spent six eye-opening months working with seven private water operators in Cambodia. This story captures their journey, full of ups and downs, and reveals how they tackled challenges and gained invaluable lessons along the way. Get ready to be inspired by their experiences and the difference they made in the field.

I would like to thank Mr. LUN Sombo and all the seniors of the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED) for funding this program.

In addition, I would like to thank all seniors in ISEA Cambodia for the great discussion some time ago. I sincerely thank Dr. SAO Davy, Ms. CHHOM Nika, and all seniors, the advisors of the Center for Sustainable Water for their valuable time, encouragement, indispensable advice, provision of reference materials, and diligent guidance throughout this internship.

Also, I would like to thank Mr. SIEV Hout, Ms. HAK Sonita, and all seniors who gave advance and provided guidance, for their support, cooperation, sharing ideas, and guidance along the way during my internship period at Svay Romiet Water Supply.

Finally, I would like to thank Impact Hub and YLWA for their mental health support and discussion during the internship. On March 26, I started my six-month internship at Svay Romiet Water Supply Station. I was scared because I was scared to adapt but excited to learn something new.

On my first day, I met all the seniors who worked there. They were very friendly and made me feel welcome. At first, I helped with simple tasks like Guidelines on Flood Resilient Measurement For Water Supply.

Soon, I began to work on water quality, Jar Tests, and SOP. I helped create the laboratory and solve some problems that were in the station. After six months, I felt more confident and skilled. My internship taught me a lot about the use of good quality water and many challenges in this water sector.

I am grateful for the experience and excited to use what I learned in school and apply with learned knowledge in this place. I hope in the future I become a successful water resource engineer.
